Just returned from the Future Industry Forum organized by the German-French Academy for the Industry of the Future (GFA) in Munich. With TUM Senior VP and Prof. Gerhard Kramer, we made the case for the beautiful French-German cooperation model which GFA stands for. The stakes are huge: (1) Helping industry understand and eventually adopt emerging technologies related to e.g. information, communication, cybersecurity, (trustworthy) AI etc.. (2) foster cooperation between French and German research labs in these areas. And last but not least (3) engage with more young student generations to show the impact they can make through science. How many initiatives do we know that bring two partner democracies together to discuss science, tech and education? How many places in the world outside of Europe foster this type of transnational cooperation? Some but not enough... ⚡️open call for young academics⚡️What are the most relevant sustainable urban transition strategies, actions, and programs? How to develop integrated tools and approaches of action facing these challenges? How does the built environment and urban morphology impact on the climate and vice versa? What are the main trends related to sustainable urban mobility and how are they integrated into transport planning and the city fabric? How are energy transition and climate-neutrality tackled in urban research and discourse, and what is the role of the economy in incentivizing the transition? How can planning become a health and well-being generator so as to help people thrive in urban environments?#AESOP #opencall #urbantransition #urbanenergy #dastu Milan March 2024Politecnico di Milano Dastu

Honored to have been awarded the Belgian Research Foundation Flanders - FWO grant to continue my PhD in Bioscience/Environmental Engineering at the Department of Bioscience Engineering - University of Antwerp. Thanks to my promotors prof. dr. ir. Denys Siegfried and dr. ir Wenke Smets for their guidance and support throughout all the process. My research tackles indoor air pollution, especially volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which are harmful even a low concentrations and they are associated with the Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). I investigate the design and engineering of botanical biofiltration, a more robust and sustainable technique that combines phytoremediation and biofiltration for the degradation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). With contemporary societies spending around 90% of their time indoors, it becomes clear that air purification technologies are needed to guarantee safe limits of indoor air pollutants.

🌍 Excited to be part of the LIFE-C project, driving environmental awareness and change! 🌱Protecting the environment and combating climate change are among the highest priorities for the European Union. As we strive towards these goals, it is crucial to assess the environmental impact of every product, service, and activity. That's where the LIFE-C project comes in. 🌿♻️LIFE-C is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to empower students and professionals from all sectors to become agents of change. By equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions, the project seeks to minimize environmental impacts and foster sustainability. 📚💡I am honored to be involved in the development of a specific course on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as part of the LIFE-C project. This innovative course will leverage new teaching methodologies to ensure a comprehensive understanding of LCA principles and practices for non-environmental students and SME's. By integrating sustainability into education, we can empower future leaders to make conscious choices that positively impact our environment. 🎓🌍Together, we can shape a more sustainable future. The LIFE-C project is paving the way for a new generation of environmentally conscious individuals who will drive positive change across all sectors. I am thrilled to be a part of this journey and contribute to a greener, more sustainable world. 🤝💚To learn more about the LIFE-C project and its initiatives, visit their official website: [Insert link to LIFE-C website]. Join us in this important endeavor to protect our planet and create a better tomorrow. 🌍🚀#LIFECproject #SustainabilityEducation #EnvironmentalAwareness #AgentsofChange #LUTUniversity #LCAcourse #education #sustainability
